NotiFerry AI agent alerts on iPhoneCodex, Claude & local-agent alerts

Get Codex and Claude notifications on your iPhone.

Walk away from a long AI task without losing the moment it finishes, fails, or asks for attention. When your Codex, Claude, or other AI client creates a macOS notification, NotiFerry can forward that new alert to your iPhone.

The short answer

Forward the notification your AI client already creates.

NotiFerry does not need access to your prompts, repositories, or agent APIs. It watches for new macOS Notification Center entries and delivers the privacy-filtered alert through ntfy. That makes it useful across multiple AI clients—but only when the client actually emits a Mac notification.

Where it helps

Carry the notification—not the whole Mac.

Approval

Return when the agent needs a decision.

If your Codex or Claude client posts an approval notification on macOS, NotiFerry can carry that alert to your iPhone while you are away.

Completion

Stop watching a progress screen.

Let a refactor, code generation task, analysis, or other long run continue on the Mac and receive its normal completion notification on your phone.

Failure

Find out quickly when a run stops early.

Forward the failure notification emitted by the Mac app so a stalled task does not sit unnoticed until you return to your desk.

Three-step setup

From Notification Center to your pocket.

The bridge stays outside the AI session itself. Configure the source app to notify macOS, then let NotiFerry carry that notification to your iPhone.

01

Make sure the AI client notifies macOS.

Enable notifications in the Codex, Claude, or other AI client and in macOS. NotiFerry forwards Notification Center entries; it does not inspect conversations or terminal output.

02

Connect NotiFerry to your iPhone.

Install NotiFerry, grant read-only access to the selected notification folder, and subscribe to its long random topic in the free ntfy app.

03

Test before starting a long task.

Confirm that one real test reaches the iPhone, choose how much preview text to reveal, and keep the Mac awake and logged in while the task runs.

What to know first

Notification forwarding, not agent surveillance.

The boundary is deliberate: NotiFerry sees the notification preview, not the conversation or work behind it.

Direct answers

Before you leave your Mac.

Does NotiFerry integrate directly with Codex or Claude?

No direct API integration is required. NotiFerry forwards the normal macOS notification created by the Codex, Claude, or other AI client. If the client or command-line process does not create a Notification Center entry, there is nothing for NotiFerry to forward.

Will it tell me when an AI task needs approval?

Yes when the AI client posts that approval request as a macOS notification. NotiFerry does not infer agent state, inspect the conversation, or create an alert that the client itself never emitted.

Can it forward the full AI response?

It forwards only the app name, title, and preview text contained in the macOS notification, subject to your chosen privacy mode. It does not copy the underlying chat, prompt, files, or terminal session.

Does it work with several AI apps?

NotiFerry reads new Notification Center entries rather than maintaining a fixed integration list, so it can cover multiple AI apps that post normal Mac notifications. Coverage remains best-effort because macOS does not provide a public cross-app notification API.

What happens if my Mac sleeps during the task?

Forwarding stops while the Mac is asleep, shut down, or logged out. Keep it awake and logged in for the duration of the run if you want new task notifications to reach your iPhone.
